I've loved writing my entire life even as a little kid, I'd sit by the windows during a thunderstorm or curl up in the autumn leaves and write short stories. When I got into high school, I made it my goal to write a full novel. After many, many, many failed attempts, I completed my first novel! As you can imagine, that was the best feeling of my life! Immediately after writing my first book (unpublished as of now) I dove straight into my Five of Diamonds Series, planning for a full five books.
I have to credit my mother, for being the reason for my love of reading, and for listening to me rant about book ideas for hours on end, as well as my two high school English teachers for ALSO listened to me rant for hours on end, for my success in writing. I also have to give a shoutout to my friend Paysha who always encouraged me and helped me through when I doubted myself the most and considered trashing all my progress. A writer is best with friends and family at their sides!
My greatest joy when it comes to writing novels is the CHARACTERS! I discovered a lot about myself through writing books, and my characters played a crucial role in molding my personality into what it is today. They say that the top five people you spend your time around are who you become--well all my time was spent with the characters on my pages.
World-building, of course, is a must...but I've never been a planner. All my books were spent with minimal plotting and planning, as my ideas tend to come best when my fingers are on a keyboard. Of course, I ended up doing my fair share of revising at the end, but it's a tactic that has worked well for me!
I'm not going to lie, formatting my documents, trying to get creative on Canva to format my book covers (again shoutout to Paysha for creating my covers!) as well as promoting my book on social media have been the hardest parts of publishing for me. I had a great time writing the books--but a book won't sell, unfortunately, unless you put in the time to let people know it's out there! I've never been huge on social media, but I've found I've been having a fun time creating fun reels and posts about my books and getting to meet new friends with similar interests!
Last, but not least, I want to thank each and every one of the people who bought my book and gave it a chance! As a self-published author, it's not easy to bring in readers, and I appreciate every single person's support! I know it's easy to overlook the smaller books out there as opposed to the popular and trending titles, but after pouring my heart and soul into these stories, I am just so happy to share them with the world <3
